Hi David,
Like I said it is something I have no experience of and it is certainly
something I would leave to someone more suitable (read knowledgeable)
unless suitable training was offered.
Your reply was interesting from both the political and the electrical
perspectives however I am interested in knowing a little more about how
such devices 'deal with' non-excessive surges and how they 'contain'
excessive ones.
I would imagine that non-excessive surges are leaked to earth - hence
failing the insulation test, is this along the right lines?
And 'containment' of excessive surges......the fuse of a small device
designed for self-destruction :-)
