RE: cheap VPN solution...

I've been running IPcop for a while, but find it somewhat limited
in what you are able to do and its development seems to be rather
slow.

So, when I get the time I plan to install m0n0wall on (http://m0n0.ch) the
firewall instead. It seems pretty cool, and a friend is running it with
success. One cool part with it is that it is like 5 megs or something, so I
have it on a 8 meg CF-card, just haven't found that time to put the card
into the firewall yet.

Cool features includes the firewall acting as an wireless access point. I
think it has better vpn support than ipcop also, which was the original
question...

Subject: [ukha_d] cheap VPN solution...

Hi!

I've been a bit worried recently at the widespread articles about
people 'borrowing' bandwidth over wireless connections....

Some of the articles sugested setting up a VPN tunnel between the
wired and wireless LAN's. It would also be useful for connecting to
home from work.

So I thought i'd have a go. I wasnt prepared to pay lots of money
for a hardware solution (im too poor!) so I want a software one.
I've tried looking for a mini-linux distribution to no avail.

I'd ideally like to use some old 486's that i have lying around (may
help clear up some space!).

Has anyone got something like this set-up or know of a good solution
that won't take 6months of tinkering to get working!

Hope you can help (as usual)!

Cheers,

Matt
