If I may add another question on a similar topic ...

What is the best hardware configuration for maximum throughput?

I am building a 3TB rackmount storage pc using the 3ware 8 x sata raid card
and 8 x 300GB maxtor drives. I have been pondering what motherboard to get
for this pc.

The machine will supply 4 other pc's with ripped DVD data through a windows
file share so its pure IO throughput I'm looking for.

Would a motherboard with 4 gigabit ports each connected directly to the
viewing machine give increased performance etc ? Is there anything I am
missing?

Chris
