Hi Paul,

I use "Beyond Compare" from www.scootersoftware.com

Free Trial and the full version is $30. This is from the licence
agreement...

"A personal license to Beyond Compare lets you use the program on any
number
of computers - at work and at home.  Your license will work with all
version
2.x.x releases.  You also will qualify for a discount on future major
upgrades (such as version 3.0)."

I use it all the time for syncing different machines and you can also
script
it to run comparisons/copy automagically. You can find orphaned files and
view differences between files. It can also compare to FTP sites so that is
how I now update my websites.

Best $30 I ever spent :-)
