I would suspect that you have a problem with the VOB files or how they
are "decrypted" so I'll go through the entire process.

1) A DVD must be ripped and NOT copied to the HD.
Use something like Smartripper (freeware)

2) You are select the correct directory that you ripped the disc to.
3) You select the destination directory for your movie.
4) You select SVCD for Mpeg2
5) Esure the settings are set (the small spanner next to M-DVD)here
you select the type and size for the Mpeg.
6) Select either entire disc or main movie only (I usually select
movie only)
7) Ensure that the audio selected is in English and the subtitles if
you require them.
8) Press the button with the lightening on it to start the encoding
process

During the ripping process you may need to allow access to the DVD,
you do this by loading the film into your DVD playing software and
start playing the DVD for a few seconds this bypassess the inbuilt
security on the disc, then rip it to the HD.
