CF card help needed

I hope some of you brains will be able to help - kind of a two part
problem. I have a 2.2Gb CF card (magicstor - microdrive) for use in a
Nikon camera - works fine, so far so good. I also have an Apacer
CP200 CF reader/CD writer which can't read the card. I assume it's
too big, I have tried formatting it as FAT and FAT32, no change. I
have put the latest firmware on the CP200, no change.
Q1: can I partition the CF card to fool the CP200?
Q2: any other suggestions?
