Is this a story of incompetence or re-enforcement of faith.....or both!

A few hours ago I thought I'd re-arrange my 'work space' a little and
also finally get round to setting up the X10 rf motion detector and
lamp module allowing a little automated lighting in that room.....

So I altered the arrangement of the various items on the desk,
monitor, speakers, pot of junk items which just don't belong anywhere
else.....

I took the previously used, but more recently redundant, motion
detector from the goodies draw and stood it in a little gap below the
front edge of the monitor and right next to the speakers (which have
2 inputs).

For the first time in ages I switched the speakers over to the HA PC
to have a play with some text to speach...another story which I won't
bore you with.

So there I was experiencing a strance but repeatable sound coming
>from

So I started trying to locate the source, assuming it was deliberate
and generated by the PC of course. Eventually I recognised the sound
being generated at the same time as when the HomeSeer log showed
reception of signal from the newly positioned motion detector....As I
said this had been used in the past....was I playing with assigning a
WAV to a test event at that time? Didn't think so.....Well several
careful checks of the events later and I couldn't find it. A few more
spurious irrational checks around other running apps and the HS
configuration before I muted the sound and found it still happened.

Then the penny dropped or should I say a sack of them - interference
due to the close proximity of the motion detector to the amplified
speakers. Nothing to do with stray apps, untidy configuration or poor
administration at all.

I am still groaning about it now.....Can I re-register with the user
name doubtingTom?

Good Night - Time to sleep!
