RE: xAP xPL EIB C-BUS X10 - choice overload!

Ian, I'm not going to start a xAP vs xPL thread again on here - I thought
we'd both agreed to move on from that.

Matt - both camps feel our version is better (I'm xAP based) and there are
several Yahoo groups of varying technical content for each. Below are the
links and the main portal sites. Essentially both protocols aim to achieve
the same thing but in slightly different ways. As Ian says the difference
are in the way we each do it. Unfortunately they are not interoperable.

If you are coming to UKHA2004 you will be able to see both in the real
world. I guess it may be helpful to some to have an impartial xAP vs xPL
comparison document but there are strong and differing views in both camps
so it may be a while coming. What is fair to say is that both protocols
allow you to do some amazing things with much greater ease than was
possibl=
e
before. They both allow for communication and control in a freeform way
between typical devices that real users have in their homes which allows a
mix and match environment for your own particular setup. You effectively
network enable all your hardware devices and software applications.

Please feel free to post any questions on either list - I'm sure we
can both persuade you our version is better.=20
