RE: [OT] large tape backup

Hi Paul,

The only thing I could think of was a DLT drive .. but you'd need a 2nd
mortgage to buy plenty of tapes ... as iirc they don't have that much
life-span...(correct me if I'm wrong!)

Would it be poss to use a 2nd machine (dumb) perhaps an old something or
other and use a few 100gb hd's in it ?

Not answering your question though ;o(

Subject:	[ukha_d] [OT] large tape backup

Having spent most of the day feeding DVD-R's into my burner
doing a backup of a lot of video material, it hung on disc 10 ! :-(

Can anyone recommend a good tape storage solution that will
cope with 40Gb+ (native) tapes but preferably even larger as typical
projects are 80Gb! - with high transfer speeds.

Only looking to spend =A3400-500 if that.

Otherwise - anyone got a suitable tape drive for sale (go
on, 'borrow' that autoloader from your IS department at work - I'll make it
worth your while!) ;)

Paul.
