You will have huge stacks of tapes, so no difference there.

Cost wise, there is not much in it 2 40 gig native DLT tapes cost more than
an 80 gig hdd, 1x110 sdlt tape costs a similar amount to a 120 gig hdd.

Then you have the price of a DLT tape drive vs the cost of x amount of IDE
caddies.
