I checked mine last night as I wanted to respond to Doogie :-)

The writing certainly isn't *engraved* into the switch, but whether it's
applied with something that a solvent could remove I'm not sure. BTW,
Hammerite thinners was the best paint remover I've come across. I put some
in a plastic pot once and it melted the bottom off it !  So it is (was?)
good, but also was based on some particularly nasty solvent IIRC so be
careful :-)
