A few other posts on opening up the remote on http://www.tivocommunity.com.
Basically remove the screw and prise apart with a knife/screw driver.  One
other bloke reckons a good twist of the two halves works well.

Mine needs cleaning (get double bounce on one of the keys) and I got
as far as you did and couldn't get any further.

Was planning to have another look on the weekend, if I get any
further I'll pass it on.
