RE: Re: Tivo remote

I haven't taken ours apart yet, but from experience of similar things...

make sure the remote is warm before you start, this helps the plastic be
more flexible

Use a smooth tool (the big flat blade on my SAK is perfect) a smooth
plastic or hard wooden tool is preferable

There is probably a clip at the end to near the screw that will be the
easiest to release

try flexing the casing gently and looking around the seams fo the clips,
when you find try to work out which way the clip operates and flex the
opposing half of the case away from it to give you room to work

The real trick is doing this and not marking the case visbly (this is where
the smooth tool comes in)

Good Luck

You could always buy a replacement and use the repaired one as a spare?

IIRC CPC do remote comtrol repair kits that include condcutive paint if
need
be

Mine needs cleaning (get double bounce on one of the keys) and I got
as far as you did and couldn't get any further.

Was planning to have another look on the weekend, if I get any
further I'll pass it on.
