Dell support is split into 3 main segments - HSB (home/small business),
relationship (mid business) and enterprise. The first is supported by DIS
(Bangalore), the rest is still mainly supported out of Ireland for the UK.
Normally I buy my Dell stuff through the company account, but the last 2
laptops I got through the Dell Outlet, which means they're covered by the
HSB support. So far it's taken over a week to get a plastic bezel replaced
(it was supplied cracked), and there's still no end in sight. If anyone
knows someone is Dell, then you'll know that they're putting huge - and I
mean huge - focus on the 'customer experience', but they've got some way to
go yet. That said, I don't think they're any worse then any other major PC
supplier in terms of support/service.

Pete

Dell Business, however are superb, IME. Something goes wrong, you call
them, and a new part is on the doorstep in the morning.

Which is sadly far from my experience and that of several friends. We
still end up sitting on the phone for far too long and often have them
try to fob us off rather than just sorting the problem. It's good you
find them superb, but I judge a company on the problems they cause, it's
easy to be superb until there's a problem.
