LCDs are much nicer than VFD IMO - I find the VFDs 'glare' too much.

If someone goes for the maximum size of 16 x 16 then there would be 32
Blue
LED's.

Was also thinking along the lines of...

White on Blue LCD similar to Ian Bird's LCD module

or graphic VFD with blue filter.
