I have to agree with this. The plugin modules can sometimes be effected by
interference on the powerline but the din rail modules are much more
resilient. As for speed, once you take out the computer side and have
homevision or comfort controlling them directly the lights are very quick
to respond.

I think a lot of people's opinions are formed around the fact they have
only used the basic on off codes and just momentary switches. Where as if
you spend a bit of time using the LD11's and extended codes or the scene
control features you can get a very good set up. An example is my bedroom
lamps that come on gradually over 5 minutes with just one extended code
(extended code 49, data 0-63 (for level 0-62, 63 instant on) then add 64
for 30sec ramp, 128 for 1min ramp and 196 for 5 min ramp).

Also by using set direct to level commands and timers to achieve automatic
lighting I find that there is very little need for any status feedback.

As for the xAP/xPL control I prefer a direct hardware type solution
wherever possible. The idea behind these is to provide connectivity where
none exists not to replace exist well used solutions, it's about adding
extra value to your automation. For instance I use xPL-comfort to log
entry, exit and disarming information so I can display it on a website, I
also log all the X10 commands over the period of a week so that I can
replay them when I'm on holiday for that lived in look.
