Oh yes, Patrick - my first forray into HA (though I wouldn't have
called it HA back then) was a box full of relays integrating three
lights, one door contact, the front doorbell push, a time clock, a
couple of cam timers, a buzzer, a rheostatic dimmer(!), power and
speaker on/off to the "hifi".

An automated bedroom that got me up, put me to sleep, and annoyed
the hell out of the mother when she ventured into my room in the
day :-)))

Reminicing a tad, thats actually better control of one rooms
environment then I've had since.....

A bit later on I also had a Science of Cambridge MK14 controlling
the central heating.  That didnt last very long, as spending ten
minutes typing hex after a power failure was not my idea of fun.
