Re: A quick Ethernet/Wireless straw poll please

Very nice too but I would never get it past the missus. I am not even sure=
=20
she will go for the current plan of relatively small stainless steel units=
=20
about 5" by 7" with a screen the size of a credit card and
several=20
buttons. Plan is though to have lots of these in the house running=20
different menu systems and reacting differently to Ethernet traffic.=20
Current estimate is 6 units plus one modified to act as a heating=20
thermostat to replace my ailing TX15B.

Personally I like non PC reliant solutions where possible although I
know=20
it difficult to get rid of them completely.

The little screen is lovely - what was the total cost assuming buy it
now=20
at 150 quid? Were you hit for VAT or import tax etc?

Thanks

Ian

Ian

I went for a different approach:

First a 8inch touch screen for =A3149 (touch screen is USB) - item new and
1024 x 768
Second a USB2 to VGA convertor and ran it as a third / fourth monitor of=20
my
main server (cost $89)

So it does not really cost that much, and a much simpler approach.

Tech: USB2 can be taken to 5 metres without issue, then you need=20
extenders.
