interesting, though you seem to be going through lots of unrequired stept
to convert you movies for the MVP. I simply use DVDDecryptor to extract the
movie (usually takes 10-15 minutes) as a single .vob file. Then I process
it vi mpg2vcr by simply changing the audio to 44khz. I do NOT touch the
picture. ie: original DVD quality picture, surround sound at 44 khz. The
mpg2vcr process typically takes as long as it would to copy the file to
another hard disk.

The huge advantage to this is that there's no noncing about, it's quick and
simple... and worth it IMHO...
