Re: Heating control (Again I know)

Chris

The answer to your question is "It depends"

If you are installing a basic single zone and DHWS system with, typically,
one boiler/pump, a couple of zone valves (Htg and DHWS), controlled by a
time clock and thermostats, then there is a multitude of manufacturers. For
the basic system, control can be enhanced by adding things like
optimisation
of start time and multiple on and off periods per day. However, ultimately,
the controls are just switching the plant on and off.

OTOH, if you are going for a multi zoned, under floor, variable temperature
system, again, there is a range of manufacturers offering various types of
system. Broadly, these fall in to two camps - Fixed function controllers
and
programmable controllers. You also need to consider such things as the
level
of integration required. Do you want occupancy detection and at what level
does the integration take place (Relays and digital inputs or some form of
open protocol so that the various control systems can talk to each other
and
be passed status information).

So, what sort of heating system are you installing? How big (how many
zones)? etc etc.

Regards

Neil
