looks like they've bunged a piezo transducer on the glass to me :-S

I used to have a glass break sensor on our old alarm that claimed to do the
same 'time shifting' technique.
It was supposed to 'listen' for the high frequency glass breaking sound and
only alarm if it was preceded by a lower frequency sound from the glass as
it flexed just before breaking...
thankfully we never tested it - it didn't ever false alarm though
