Probably a bit late for you now, and I don't know if they're
commercially available yet, but...

The Integer House / BBC Dreamhouse at BRE in Watford had glass doors
whereby you could see through them like normal glass, then at the flick
of a switch (literally), the glass would turn opaque such that you
couldn't see through it. I don't know whether it actually blocked light
particularly well (I viewed the house in the daytime) but it looked a
really neat idea.

The glass was from Saint Gobain. the Integer house URL is:

What may still be relevant for you is a solution we had at a Company I
used to work for. The board room had electrically operated roller blinds
fitted into a sealed track to help block light out at the edges. It
looked "commercial" so you may wish to soften the edges with
curtains
etc. but they did the job of blocking out light very well. No contact
details I'm afraid, someone else may be able to help.
