Wall covering for Projector screen

I've picked up a fairly low output LCD projector, and am looking for
suggestions for a wall finish.

The Screen Goo stuff looks good, but seems expensive, I've been reading the
AVSforums, and some people are using aluminium spray paint onto board.

Has anyone tried anything similar with good results.

I'm only projecting about 7ft producing a 44ish x 30ish screen in my Study
so I can do total darkness, but just want to brighten it up a bit as it
generally seems washed out and hard to read some text.
