yeah, we have BT sockets with a master socket with a capacitor, so I
guess a standard BT phone would work here.  Two wire stuff like DECT
phones work fine.

Your ADSL filter works here, too.  As does your vigor 2600, but you
need to change some settings.

I believe CallerID is the USA version, not the UK, though I haven't
tried it personally.

Geek note - in our house the phone wiring is six core cable, not 3 x
twisted pairs.  Guess the CW1307 failed to make the journey...
