Machine protection - WAS [OT] Explorer HELP

Hi

On the subject of machine protection, what does the group recommend to stop
this kind of situation happening in the first place?

I know XP service pack 2 is OK, but what do you use with this to stop a
machine being trashed by malware?
There are real time versions of Adaware.

I have not marked this as [OT] as my automation servers are connected to
the
net and thus this would be relevant.

The demon spawn has been surfing again (not me guv honest).
I now have a porn index page stuck on Inernet Explorer which I cannot get
rid of by changing the settings back to use blank, also when I type in a
URL
it goes to a ww.heretofind search page and wont let me go where I want.
