I vaguely recall someone (who may or may not have been on here)
mentioning the cunning method of measuring the temperature of the hot
water pipe to the shower/bath as a means of controlling a fan using a
simple hot water tank thermostat (although you could of course do
something a bit more 'intelligent').  May be more or less effort than
measuring humidity directly, depending on the layout of your plumbing
and so on.
