I see you've got a solution, but I thought I'd post anyway.

That might've been me that posted the original idea but alas, have not
installed it myself yet so I can't comment on how well it works. My
previous house had the bathroom in the middle with no windows and there
were ways to get cables in. E.g. my waste pipes were boxed in which
provided the perfect route into the loft so I could extend the
underfloor heating cables to a suitable point. You *have* to get the
waste water out of the room, it just may not then go to the most logical
place for the rest of the kit. Maybe you could mount the sensor behind
the bath panel ? If you're shower is electric, put a relay for the
extract fan in the feed circuit to the power shower. When the shower is
on, the fan is on, then set the overrun timer to whatever is suitable
once the shower has gone off.
