Windows Mapped Drives - Strange

  • Subject: Windows Mapped Drives - Strange

Just added a drive to my jukebox PC and upgraded it to XP (from 2K).

The windows shares work fine and I can stream to Xbox as before, but from
other PCs there's a strange problem. If you do the usual START - RUN -
//jukebox from another PC on the LAN you get an error message that you may
not have rights to view that machine. The rights are setup OK though and
the strange thing is if you do a //ip.address it all works fine.

I've got round the problem by editing the drive mappings to use IP address
instead of machine name but would like to know why this is. Any ideas?

Thanks

M.
