I wouldn't get too hung up with the total resolution either because a good
4MP camera with large sensor will have less noise from the CCD than with a
smaller but higher pixel CCD. You need to be a bit more specific about what
you want to use it for and the size of printed output you would prefer to
stand any chance of getting to a short list.

Please can anyone recommend a good digital camera. What number of
megapixels is best: as many as you can afford? Do smaller MP produce
noticably poorer pictures?
