As far as I know this is not documented anywhere - so is this merely the
opinion of a representative rather than the company's position ?

It is the recommended practice by Clipsal UK to have MCBs on the output
channels as well as inputs. We have just installed 2 x 8-channel C-Bus
dimmers and a 12-channel relay unit in our new office cabin with all
output channels protected by MCBs. It may or may not be too slow to react
to a fault on the load but the ability to isolate individual output
channels at a flick of a switch, in my opinion, is worth the relatively
modest outlay.
