Re: OT : Attic Insulation
Hi Gareth,
I have done something like that... I just used the same insulation
on a roll stuff that I'd previously used between the joists. This is
the standard DIY shed stuff, - I believe it's called Pink Panther or
something like that... - the actual fibre is wrapped in a pink
plasticy film, which makes it SOOO much more pleasant to work with.
In my case, I just cut lengths of it from the roll, and stuffed them
in between the rafters on the slopes... - the friction was enough to
keep it in place whilst I then put plasterboard over the top.
I've only done the top 50% or so of my slopes this way - from the
ridge down to the purlins. This keeps it more manageable to do. I
could have gone down a bit nearer to the eaves, but I'd have to
leave ventilation space at the bottom near the eaves anyway.
I plan to put in some panelling of some sort from the purlins down
to the loft floor, and use the space behind (which is too low to
stand up in) as hidden storage. - I'll put either removable
sections, or doors in those panels to allow access to the area
behind, and I'll also fit striplighting behind there.
I have a couple of photos of this work in progress, but
unfortunately, I seem to have lost connectivity to my home server at
the mo... - I think NTL may have actually changed my dynamic IP for
the first time in years! I won't be back home until Friday night, so
I can't sort out a link to the pics before then...
