Broadband connection ?
If so what about an online service such as that offered by BT or PCWorld ?
Would then nag if it doesn't work and email to say if it does. (Thinking
back to trying to restore from a backup tape cartridge where the tape had
broken months before but user had no idea as they had turned off verify
after write "to save time")
