Faulty cm12u

Hi All,
My CM12U seems to have toasted itself, I can't comunicate with it and
it has a hint of burnt toast smell. I seem to remember reading that
these things fail quite often.

I have not taken a look at it yet, are they possible to repair? Is
there a common failure? I am trained in electronics repair but have
not done much for a few years.
