[OT] IT Training courses

I know this is OT but this list really is the font of all knowledge -:)

My middle lad is desperate to get a job in computing (PC support and
networks are his main interests). He has A level computing, but is finding
that its not enough to even get on the bottom ladder so he is looking for
more qualifications.

Having made some enquiries he is now being bombarded with details of
various courses (CompTIA A+ and N+, Cisco) from various training companies
who would want a lot of money from him -:(

Any advice on whether any of these courses are seen as useful to
prospective employers?

Also any feedback on training providers would be much appreciated.

TIA

John
