Hi Stuart

Can I Ask a quick question

If you are using a PVR500 or MCE150 does the MCE allow you to switch
between the Svid input or the Tuner input?

And Do you access the radio separately from the TV i.e. can you have
both together?

The questions arrive due to me wishing to connect a couple of Xboxes to
a new build MCE

Thanks in advance

Mike

Geraint,

You pretty much have it right. Two Sky boxes and a standard and
multiroom
subscription gives you two independent tuner sources for MCE.

The PVR500 may not be the best card for you to use. Although this is a
dual
tuner card it ships with only one set of composite inputs on the back
panel.
There is a back plate adapter that adds the extra set of inputs but it
has
been difficult to get these in the UK. I know that it is available in
the US
and someone in Ireland was also able to get one. Most people just go
with
two separate MCE150 analogue tuners.

The MCE remote control receiver has two IR blaster outputs on the back
of
it. One of these should be attached close to each Sky Box to issue the
channel change commands by IR. In simple terms just like Sky Plus one
box is
used for watching live TV and the other is purely for recording another
channel that needs to be recorded at the same time. Once MCE has decided
which is which it pretty much doesn't matter to you as MCE knows which
one
to change.

Hope some of this helps.

Stuart

Subject: [ukha_d] Windows MCE - dual tuner card, bit confused

Afternoon all,

Please feel free to slap me with a kipper if this is a stupid
question that i'm over complicating.

I am in process of building a HTPC with MCE2005 (been testing upon
it for a while, and now a dedicated machine is being built)

I have a Haupagge PVR500 dual tuner card which the intention was to
use this to allow two sat boxes to be hooked up to the card and
allow recording of one, watching of another etc.
Currently have a TiVo which the mrs has really got into so it's got
to be the same ease of use if not more so before I can justify
moving over to the HTPC system.

What I can't understand is can I literally have two Sky boxes with
two sky cards and MCE be able to handle this ?
If the boxes are the same make and model, then how does the control
of the channel changes occur ?

Any help be most appreciated.

Regards
Geraint.
