RE: [OT] Measuring carpet...

When we had our house carpeted recently the measuring was very exact
indeed.
The fitter measured first and drew everything on graph paper so he wasted
as
little as possible. He actually pre-cut the carpet too. From looking at his
diagram, there was almost nothing left over. When you think about it that
is
a very obvious way to do it. I would add that this inlcuded 2 sets of
stairs, one of which was curved so fairly tricky.

So to summarise, it depends on the shape of your rooms and the width of the
carpet (say 5m wide)  but if you are sensible I think there should be
little
waste.
