FWIW, I would *definitely* put in a HDMI cable now, while you have the
chance.... - I guarantee that before long, you will see MCE PC's with HDMI
out's fitted, and graphics cards with HDMI outs can't be far away either...
The cost of a few metres of HDMI cable is as nothing to the annoyance you
might feel in 2 or 3 years time when you have loads of components that are
HDMI equipped and you can't get that signal to the screen....

Just my 2p.

Evening All,

I'm planning on the re-decorating of the front room very soon, and
as such, any cable routing would be done at same time.

I'm planning on a new LCD TV wallmounted and want to minimise any
visible cables etc, so am looking at connection plates behind where
the screen will be.
Similar will be done for the surround sound speakers via banana plug
plates.

I'm trying to ensure i've got all angles covered as i won't be
opening up after it's all been skimmed.

The room will house a MediaCentre PC which has twin tuners above it,
along with it's Surround sound amp.
That end will pretty much be cabled directly between themselves and
out to wallplates for the speakers etc.

What I want to ensure is that i've covered any standards.

I was thinking of the following (from behind TV, to the
audio/computer cabinet)

Component Video
S Video
2 x Scart
2 x RJ45 (no idea what for but room is being cabled anyway)
Sat-F

Now the part i can't decide upon, VGA, HDMI, DVI
I'm obviously connecting the DVI from MediaCentre graphics card, but
i've not got anything HDMI etc, should i still do it now for later
use ?
They do seem expensive if i don't have a use though.
I'm not entirely sure i'll use a seperate DVD player, or just use
the MediaCentre one.

Thoughts, advice most appreciated.....
