RE: iPod Shuffle / ITunes

Hi Andy.

Couldn't agree more with these points, - which is precisely why I gave
SWMBO another MP3 player this xmas to replace the ipod shuffle that she
bought only about 10 months ago...

She too has complained that iTunes tanks her CPU utilisation and the
whole machine grinds to a halt when it's running - & not necessarily
playing either...

Also got totally fed up with Apple's "proprietary-ness" a while
ago too,
- trying to load up some music onto it for an office party, - right
royal pain in the a$$ - couldn't do it from the machine I wanted to use,
since I didn't have itunes on it, mistakenly thought I could just drag
&
drop some MP3's on it with Windows explorer... - which of course I
could... - buggered if the shuffle would play them though.... GRRR....

Just replaced it with a little thing called a Q-Be - the smallest MP3
player in the world (this week anyway). - no software required, works
just as a removable drive under windows, so drag & drop with explorer
is
just dandy (this is how *all* MP3 players should be, by law...), has 1GB
of memory, a georgeous little OLED screen - despite being very small, it
is *very* useable, and sound quality is really quite good. It supports
MP3 & WMA (no DRM or course), and charges from the USB port.

I'm happy to recommend the Q-Be to anyone who's less than chuffed with a
shuffle... available in Dixons/Curry's et al in a range of different
colours.
