simple signalling (940-0020) and smart-signalling (940-0024C) use pin 9 !

Good point ! It's a home made cable,  9 pin D each end, I've just taken the
shell off and it has pins 1, 2 and 9 connected (it works as a smart signal
cable) whereas the weather station cable has all pins except 9 connected so
I will need to use different adaptors !

Thanks for the other links -  I think I can now work out what signals to
put
up what wire.
