A colleague and I both bought one of these yesterday:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=3D43614&TabID=3D1&source=3D15&=
WorldID=3D&doy=3D14m2
They are =A335 on offer for a week or so more.
Initial thoughts from both of us are that they are good - although we've
no=
t destruction tested them yet ;-)
They are somewhat basic, however we just wanted a way to call colleague's
a=
cross Europe without using our mobiles.
We have both tried headsets (didn't like wearing them - made me feel like
I=
was on a helpdesk) and speaker / mic combos (this one gave a lot of feedba=
ck echo and strange noises) and didn't like them.
No connection to Maplin's etc.....
Rob

I'd prefer a phone type object. I think my sister would get on with it
better.. and from the point of having to support her and talk her through
using it.. it would be easier if they were the same model.
I'd assumed that the green button on the phones is call accept and red
button is the end call button and so I'd see it that the phone would ring
(or rather the sound card sounds the .wav file) and my sister could pick
th=
e
phone up and press the green button and then talk...
I'd see the headset as a little too inconvenient for her ....
thanks for the reply. I'll see how nasty and tacky the phones are ....!

I'm sure the answer to this will be yes, but I'll ask anyway; do you
particularly want a VoIP phone, as opposed to just a headset? the only
reason I ask is that we've looked at a few of these, but they're all rather
tacky, and wouldn't be up to daily office use (which may not be so
importan=
t
for occasional use). We just use the Plantronics USB headsets, which are
fine, and have good sound quality.

I'm about to buy 2 USB phones for VOIP - 1 for me and 1 for my sister in
Sweden... we both have 1Mb ADSL
I'm thinking of using skype and as she phones the UK a lot then I thought
sykpe-out was going to be useful to her
Are there any particularly good phones or are they basically all the same ?
I'm looking to spend about +/- =A335 for each of them..any recommendations
=
?
