At least you get a warning.... we just get plunged into darkness!

Reminds me of my previous office whenever someone mentioned
"PERL".
there would be a rousing chorus of "Pearl's a singer, she stands
up..." followed by everyone standing up! We dont use PERL now so we
get less exercise.

I did consider that as well, the point I was trying to make was that
you can notify any occupants that the environment was going to
change. The other point is that if you have dimmable lighting then
you never need to plunge someone into darkness anyway.

Lutron systems have "timed fades" for each scene which can be set
to
a wide range but if the lights are off and ANY scene is selected the
lights come on in a maximum of 4 seconds even if the fade for that
scene is normally 60 seconds. Likewise when turning lights OFF the
fade time is 30 seconds even if it would normally be instant or 5
seconds.

If you have programmed fade for turning off automatically then you
could use that delay period to restore the previous level if
movement or IR was detected. Obviously you wouldnt do that if the
OFF was manually instigated or they would keep coming back on
forever!
