Apple have a simple backup application (cunning called "Backup")
which
is free for .mac members (or maybe it's free for all, but has some .mac
integration that adds to the functionality for .mac members).
I also have Dantz Retrospect, which I've used for one off backups.
Haven't tested it to destruction though, but works well for the bits
I've used (eg simple one off recoveries of single files works fine).
There are a couple of other popular packages out there, but I've no
experience of them.
