Banana plugs are perfectly adequate for speaker wiring. If it comes to
aesthetics, the speakon is just as hideous as banana plugs and it's
much bigger.

As long as you make sure that your cables can't short out or come into
contact with anything they shouldn't they don't need to be terminated.
