Thought USB2 would be too slow (not really used them myself) - I need
rapid access and working with large files.

I use an external USB drive. I got an 80Gb USB2 device from Scan for
=A380.=
I
use it for keeping backups offsite. The downside though.. it's slow as
hell. I wouldn't recommend it for daily use. Also, you have to be very
careful with delayed writes to the disk. If you copy a large file, then
unplug it too soon, you'll loose data.

Regards

Marc

I'm sure there was some talk about external HD enclosures - had a look via
the archives and cant find anything. NAS would be nice, but I think the
load on the network would be too great - unless I bought a gigabit card
and the NAS device itself supported gigabit and 100Mb.

If I had an enclosure system I can shrink the server down to a basic
system - easier to keep cool, and free up some space !

Anyone like to share with me what they use for enclosures ? I'm assuming
that it would need a controller of sorts - unless they are USB2 but Im not
sure it has the bandwidth.
