I can only go by personal experience and after listening to a few
CD's which were ripped to Monkeys (.ape) using EAC, the quality
difference was enough to persuade me to re-rip my collection.

The wav files from EAC sound as good as the CD unlike those
extracted by J River media center and a couple of free wav programs
I have tested.
Perhaps I should have qualified my statement with an IMO :-)
