RE: Streaming Tivo to XBMC, Help with Linux commands

Glenn,

Your Fantastic... I owe you a large beer...

Having read many of the forums and How To's and got nowhere I had
resigned myself to having to manually start TiVoWeb every time the TiVo
rebooted, but with your help I have at last managed it !!!

I had to change the instructions slightly as I don't have Joe installed
on my machine. Instead I used an FTP program to lift a copy from the
TiVo and then in a text editor typed what you said, see below... By then
setting the drive to Read/Write, chmod(ing) the file, and resetting the
drive to Read Only it works....

Contents of my rc.sysinit.author

/var/hack/tivoweb-tcl/tivoweb &
/var/hack/ccxstream. &

I still used the full stop after the ccxstream.......

I'm now ready to move the TiVo up the garden with the SKY Box so I can
get Satellite reception, even when it rains, and I can watch it in the
cottage using the Xbox over 200 Metres of CAT5e....

Thanks a lot

Nigel

I can help with this one...

Mount your partition as read-write:
mount -o remount,rw /

Create a file in /etc/rc.d called rc.sysinit.author:
cd /etc/rc.d
Joe rc.sysinit.author

In it, add:
/var/hack/ccxstream &

(the ampersand is important)

Ctrl-K and then X to exit and save.

Make it executable:
Chmod 755 rc.sysinit.author

Remount your drive as read-only:
mount -o remount,ro /

Reboot your tivo:
sync
Reboot

CCXStream should start on boot-up.

(BTW, I got your off-list emails, but have been real short on time...
Sorry)
