Little update on this (if anyone is interested)
"BT don't filter IPSec traffic"
and no you don't need to faff around with the firewall rules on the Netgear
router

Anyone got a Netgear DG834 or 834G working correctly with a VPN out there ?
Or know of a publically accessible Netgear router to prove the client
install ?
