Seriously though Dean - X10 is pretty straight-forward. You will need to
check all the addresses if there isn't a list (best to be safe though). You
can also get couplers to transmit the X10 signals across phases:

If you're used to CBus, X10 is going to be a real disappointment! ;)

Oh, and yes you can put X10 devices anywhere you like pretty much. The only
problem is that they can be really susceptible to interference from noisy
devices (motors, TV's, fridges etc). I can't get any signals to one part of
my house!
