We're on Exchange 5.5 - as far as I can tell, we need 2003 to link PocketPC
to it (or am I mistaken?)

PocketPCs come with Exchange support. I've been connecting to Exchange
server via GPRS on my Pocket PC and my MS Smartphone for sometime.
Works a treat.
