I am not familiar with openhand but with Duality switching between
inbox & calendar is instant and it runs in the background using the
mailboxes & appointments facility provided by the native OS.
It's a little slower on the Nokia 9300 (2 seconds or so) opening a
message. But I think that's down to a slower OS with Symbian 80.
The managment software for adding, reseting users and back-end
management is very simple to use as it picks up all user info from
Exchange. You can also control how many days worth of emails /
appointments the device shows so that you don't have to keep
deleting emails on the PPC. This is very useful, as many users want
to keep old emails in their in-box at their desktop but only want
see recent mails while on the move.
Deleting emails from the PPC will move the emails to the deleted
folder on the outlook desktop. Reading the email from the ppc will
instantly show it as read on the desktop etc.
The tech support has been excellent so far and they are adding
features all the time, like giving access to the Exchange server
mail-lists (internal emails, etc) as well the email addresses from
the contacts database on the device.
They will provide a 30 day trial copy for up to 6 users.
Including the trial period we have had it running for 4 months now
without a hitch. I am very impressed so far.
On my reccomendation, our venture capital guys spoke to them for
investment but they were already in talks with Seven, who has now
bought them for $60m!
If you want I can put you in touch with them. Drop me a line off-
list if you need the details.
